November Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We had a busy month in October that was full of fun and educational activities. Our students went on their first field trip to Caldwell Zoo, had an opportunity to attend Camp Learn-A-Lot Superhero Training Camp, participated in Red Ribbon Week, visited with our local community superhero helpers, and dressed-up for Halloween. We have many more exciting events planned for November so please be sure to carefully read the newsletter. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 903-841-7860.

November is such a wonderful time to reflect on all the things we're grateful for. We feel so lucky to have enthusiastic students who arrive at school excited to learn and participate in activities. We also want to give a big thank you to the parents and guardians of GECC—you're your child's very first teachers, and your support helps them grow and thrive. We truly appreciate you entrusting us with your child's care and education!

We are so thankful for our teachers and staff who work tirelessly to give our students the best possible learning opportunities and experiences.

Perfect Attendance Challenge

Congratulations! During the second nine-weeks, we have many students with perfect attendance so far. Keep up the great work because we will be drawing another two boys and two girls to receive bikes in December.

Classroom Attendance Tater Tot Challenge

The competition is heating up and classes are continuing to have perfect attendance days. We cannot wait to find out which class will be the winner of the Sonic Tater Tot party.

Daily Attendance

Student attendance is extremely important, even at the Pre-K level. Thank you for ensuring your child comes to school each and every day ready to learn!

Every absence is a missed day of learning. Let’s work together to make daily attendance a top priority. Too many absences, excused or unexcused, can keep students from succeeding in school and in life. How many are too many? Too many absences are 10% of the school year. This equals 17 missed days or 2 days a month!

Progress Reports

Progress reports will be sent home on November 6th. Check your child’s folder for the progress report envelope. Be sure to sign the paper and return it with the envelope to your child’s classroom teacher.

Veteran's Day - Tuesday, November 11th

At GECC we recognize and honor the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of our veterans. We are truly grateful for everything you’ve done to serve and protect our country. Thank you so much for your service!

Reading with Dudes – Thursday, November 13th

This is a male, only, involvement event. Head Start is required to conduct two male involvement events each year and have graciously extended the event to include Pre-K students. Our staff at GECC recognizes the crucial role of fathers and male figures in children's development and family well-being. Male involvement events are designed to foster stronger father-child relationships, promote positive parenting, and strengthen families, ultimately contributing to children's school readiness.

We recognize and welcome all male role models that are in our students’ lives which includes but is not limited to: dads, uncles, grandpas, brothers, etc. Due to limited space, we are requesting that only one male role model attend per student for this event. Specifics about the event along with a slip to RSVP will be sent home in your child’s backpack during the first week of November.

Early Release Day - Friday, November 14th

GECC students will be released early on November 14th. Detailed information will be sent out soon.
