*The TAKS test stands for Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills and passing it is now a graduation requirement for all students.

 

*The THEA is a college entrance exam that every student, with few exceptions, must take.  The following test scores will exempt students from the THEA:

 

  • TAKS scores in English and Math of 2200 with a 3 on the written essay; 
  • ACT scores of 23 with 19 in the English and Math sub scores;
  • and SAT of 1070 with 500 in the English and Math sub scores.
*The SAT and the ACT are both college entrance exams required by 4 year institutions (colleges & universities).  Be sure to take at least one of them your JUNIOR year in high school.
  • Most colleges advise perspective students to take the SAT or ACT at least 3 times.

*The ASVAB is a military test that must be taken by individuals planning to join any branch (navy, air force, army, marines, etc.) of military service.  Even if you don't plan on joining the military, taking the ASFAB provides you with a free career inventory which can help direct you in the path you want for your future.
